A bit more about me
This is my third year teaching in Chino Valley. I was born and raised in Wisconsin, and since my family moved often, at one time or another I've lived throughout most of the state. However, I still call southern Wisconsin my home.
I guess I was born under a wandering star, as I have traveled to approximately 21 different countries. My teaching career has also been out of the ordinary. I have taught in:
- Shiocton & Elcho, Wisconsin
- Baltimore, Maryland
- Amman, Jordan (American Community School in Amman)
- Tegucigalpa, Honduras (the American School in Tegucigalpa)
- Kuwait City, Kuwait (American International School of Kuwait in Kuwiat City)
- Seoul, South Korea (Seoul International School)
- Monterrey, Mexico (ASFM - Monterrey)
- and finally Chino Valley, Arizona
The highlight of my life has always been working with students and creating or recreating fine music. There is nothing more rewarding to me, than when students recognize they have accomplished something special. I have 30 years of teaching experience, teaching mostly Band (grades 4 -12), however, I also have experience teaching Choir, General Music, and Orchestra.
I enjoy golfing as often as I can, travelling to Civil War era sites or Restaurants featured on Dinners, Dives and Drive-Ins, and/or researching my family's history or Wisconsin history.
If I were to write out my personal and professional philosophies, it would take many, many pages. However suffice it to say that my philosophies are an amalgamation of catch phrases, such as: "All Children Can Succeed ," "Do Things Rght the First Time," "Always Leave Things Better Than When You Found It," and my favorite, which I've borrowed from another music educator, "Striving For Excellence Through Music."
I hope that gives you a brief sketch of who I am. Please feel free to call, email or stop by the music rooms at either HMS or CVHS. TOGETHER we are working for a better, more enjoyable, musical future.
